There are a total of four odometer codes, which indicate the reliability of the odometer reading. Listed below are the codes and what they represent.

  • ACTUAL – Indicates that the odometer reading is considered to be true and actual.

  • NOT ACTUAL – Indicates that the odometer is not accurate or cannot be determined.

  • EXEMPT – Indicates that no code is required by federal law.

  • EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS – Indicates that the true mileage of the vehicle cannot be determined as it has “rolled over.”
